Di Shui Dong

Highly recommended are ziran paigu (cumin ribs), gan guo ji (chicken in chili pot), suan doujiao rouni (mashed pork with sour beans), duojiao yutou (fish head steamed with red chili). Or order just about anything in sight and plenty of cold beer to douse the fiery flames in your mouth.

cmou5775: It was nice to find a restaurant with excellent dumplings and noodle soup - all hand made - staff that spoke English and menus with English too. The one we ate at was on the 2nd floor of a glitzy mall near Xiantiandi.

estherghc: Went to the Dongping Lu branch as I read it has a better ambience. It does at that but the food was mediocre. The ribs were more cumin then ribs and hardly any meat. Granted the price was not high, overall the dishes were average. Not bad but nothing to should about. We did our usual "been there done that, no need to go back".

biliana: Been to both Dongping Lu and Maoming Lu branches, none of which impressed me any bit. It's an average Chinese rustic style restaurant targeting and catering to foreigners, with respectively foreigner-special prices, which i don't know any Chinese who would pay for this kind of a restaurant. The service too isn't any better than the basic Chinese restaurant, and really pushing to sell the expensive imported beer on the menu. Fortunately the food is delicious, which is to be expected at this kind of a restaurant anyways. Very poor value for the voucher, and even poorer for the card.

nomalice25mark: Went to Xian Xia Branch tonight, the food is okay, arrived around 6:30pm, 20% full, the service staff is not good and unprofessional, after paying, the management keep giving excuse not to give receipts and the ENJOY SHANGHAI CARD was not honored for this venue. Will never come back to this place again.......

JAGRUSS: Heavy, sometimes too oily but utterly satisfying nevertheless. The ribs are worth the trip alone, and if you like sweets: ba Si Ping guo for the end (carmelcoated apple to be dipped in ice water)

jendives: I knew Dishuidong from last year, a Chinese friend of mine took me there for a diner. THis a very Chinese restaurant that is quite particular, indeed they have this atmosphere that is quite the one of a Chinese countryside restaurant but a little better presented and enhanced with some decoration of the Western style... THe most particular is that you could order some snake on the meal, which is brought to you in a bag for choice amongst few of them... ^^ Then it is cooked and served with a cup of its own blood aside. Very Cheerfull ^^ Seriously, this place has a couple of dying-for dishes, like the cumin ribs, that everyone order and that you have to try once in your life ^^ their other dishes are more of a little show like the snake, but except these few things, this place is just another Chinese middle range fancy restaurant. Another plus is that they have a little range of Belgian and International beers, like Duvel and Maredsous. Dont go there for the wine. Also the venue in DOngping lu, at the 1st floor, for a Saturday night, was very noisy but not very crowded, the accoustic may be not appropriate... The voucher looks good but actually it does not make it so worthy as sea food and drinks are excluded... Indeed, yesterday we ate for 700 rmb, 7 people, and we only had 50 rmb discount... very disappointed... Jendives

thelightfantastic: I have to say I enjoyed the food. It's a bit heavy handed at times but hey - it's not gourmet. For instance - the lamb ribs, coated in cumin so that I had to brush it aside but it was still yum. Not expensive.
